Hainan Normal University is located in Haikou, a city designated as both a coastal tourist destination and a national historical and cultural city. Hainan Province, situated in the southernmost part of China, is the only tropical island province in China. It benefits from a warm, subtropical climate with an average annual temperature of 23.8°C.
Founded in 1949, Hainan Normal University is a key institution of higher education in Hainan Province. With two campuses, Longkunnan and Guilin Yang, spanning approximately 3, 100 mu, the university provides a convenient and inspiring learning environment. Offering a comprehensive range of academic programs, the university boasts 25 schools, 65 undergraduate majors, 19 first-level master's degrees, 21 professional master's degrees, and 6 doctoral programs. This robust academic framework allows students to pursue their educational goals from bachelor's to doctoral levels. Currently, the university enrolls approximately 25,000 full-time students, including over 500 international students. The faculty comprises 2, 166 staff members, including 1,397 full-time teachers and researchers, and 714 senior faculty. Additionally, the university houses 4 post-doctoral research stations and 21 academician innovation platforms. Recognizing its potential, the Ministry of Education selected the university as one of the second batch of pilot units to advance AI-powered teacher training.
